Who’s the Guy Drawing the Caricatures?
Award-winning caricature artist Joel Kweskin has captured the likeness and personalities of folks from all walks of life.
From family and friends to business colleagues and industry moguls. From sports heroes and political leaders to Hollywood stars and historical icons. From magazine editorial illustration to roadside billboard display. From live gatherings at events to commissioned caricatures from photos.
From black & white, quick-sketch heads to full-body, engaged-in-activity, full-color tableaux…Joel is your go-to caricature artist. For any and all occasions.
A custom caricature from Joel may be found in the offices and homes of such notables as actor-comedian Kevin Pollack; entertainer Barry Manilow; former NFL head coach Dom Capers; advertising executive (“AFLAC Duck” commercials) Linda Kaplan Thaler; Charlotte property developer Johnny Harris; Charlotte media personalities Moira Quinn, Al Conklin, Don Russell, James K. Flynn; and the late McDonald’s CEO Ray Kroc. George Clooney is another subject and recipient, since Joel appeared as an extra in Clooney’s Charlotte-shot football flick, “Leatherheads.”
This Charlotte, North Carolina-based caricature artist is an alumnus of the nationally acclaimed High School of Music and Art in New York City, and studied later in the city at the internationally renowned Art Students League.
Joel has also put his stamp on the fabled Palm restaurant in Charlotte (see The Palm, among the pages on this site), drawing VIPs of every industry onto the caricature-festooned walls of the iconic eatery.
As Joel likes to say, “Caricatures: their role as a uniquely customized form of entertainment and cherished gift keepsake, stretches from the boardwalk to the boardroom. And happy occasions in between.”
